This feature layer depicts land use within northeastern Illinois broken out into 57 categories. Parcels were dissolved on common land use types, and polygons were generated for non-parcel areas (e.g. road rights-of-way) and assigned a generic \u201cnon-parcel\u201d category.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Land Use data can be used for forecasting, land use and transportation modeling, existing conditions reports and general research.<\/span><\/span>

Data was created by CMAP staff, updating the previous 2020 inventory using Spring 2023 aerial photography as the base, supplemented by County Assessor files and other data.<\/span><\/span>

Land Use Inventory files are considered final upon publication. New Land Use Inventories are produced every 3 to 5 years.
